Ready for the final sprint as Wiz-Team lands in Birmingham
Wiz-Team is back in Birmingham!
Earlier this week, Wiz-Team landed in Birmingham, UK, for the final sprint before the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games opens on 28 July 2022. From now until the end of the Games, 10 members of Wiz-Team will be on site working hand-in-hand with the local organising committee in both technical and functional roles in support of the suite of Event-Works applications that make up #B2022’s Core Games Management System.
The team on the ground will be largely based out of the Technology Operations Centre (TOC) situated in the heart of the city just steps from competition venues and festivities celebrating the Games. In addition to providing technical support and live monitoring services, application teams will be deployed across key operational centres to help deliver final operational milestones.

Wiz-Team’s CEO Johann Woringer shared:

“This is what it is all about! After months of application development and design of our latest major multi-sport applications, as well as delivery, we are thrilled to finally shift to our roles for the Games. It promises to be an intense, exciting, and unique couple of weeks with plenty of sporting action and major event excitement to keep us inspired and energised.”

Wiz-Team’s operational delivery team for the Games, made up of a blend of Wiz-Team’s Swiss and Italian offices, brings decades of major multi-sport event technical, infrastructure, and functional experience.
Johann adds: “With many of us having been in the shoes of our Birmingham 2022 counterparts in a variety of operational roles, we are very familiar with what lies ahead in the final two-weeks before the Opening Ceremony. That said, every Games will have its unique challenges. We look forward to facing those head-on with our partners and team-mates in Birmingham.”

In addition to supporting the delivery and implementation of Birmingham 2022’s Core Games Management Systems, Wiz-Team will also be playing host to board members, special guests, partners, and prospects in the West Midlands region as part of a local hospitality programme. Supported by Wiz-Team’s Event-Work’s solution, it promises to be a stimulating couple weeks of celebration and connection with our global sport events community.

Ciaran Quinn, Wiz-Team’s Board Chair, shares: “It is incredibly exciting to join our operational team in Birmingham for the Games.  I look forward to celebrating what Wiz-Team, the city, and Birmingham 2022 have accomplished over the past two years in preparing for this event. It will surely be a great moment to share with the team, our friends, and the greater global sport movement.”

JOHANN

CEO

As the founder and CEO of Wiz-Team, Johann has been a part of this adventure long before the start of the organisation 10 years ago. This dynamic and fast-growing company was born out of gap in the market Johann and his colleagues experienced as event managers in the early 2000s.  With little tools available to effectively manage the demands and challenges of data management for complex events, they decided to build their own solution.

Shortly thereafter Johann created Event-Works and later Wiz-Team with the vision to deliver world class digital solutions built by event professionals for event professionals. From Wiz-Team headquarters in his hometown Lausanne, he oversees a global network of developers and experts, who support the organisations mission to empower event professionals through smart, intuitive, and innovative digital solutions.

Johann’s expertise in event data management is outstanding.  He has delivered innovative event management solutions to every Olympic Games edition since 2004 alongside a range of other international events. Having worked across many sectors, including sports federations, the medical congress industry, corporate companies, and government agencies, he has acquired a wide-ranging background and an exceptional experience in various types and sizes of events. Before he set up Wiz-Team, Johann specialised in web and database development, as well as project management in the luxury industry, and teaching.

Johann holds an MBA in international management and speaks English, French and some German. In his spare time, he enjoys scuba diving, discovering the world on a motorbike, gaming and exploring new technologies.
