Birmingham 2022: Wiz-Team ramps up preparations with 50 days to go!

We love a countdown – especially when it’s for a major sport event that will see 5’000 or so of the Commonwealth’s best athletes compete for 11 days across 19 different sports. With 50 days to go until the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Game and 30 days till Wiz-Team kick-starts its on-site Games-time operations, today’s milestone gives us an opportunity to reflect on our journey so far as Official Software and Solutions Provider for Core Games Management Systems, and the exciting road ahead.

We kicked-off our partnership with Birmingham 2022 back in October 2021 after we announced that we would be providing the Organising Committee with industry-leading technology and expertise to support with: accreditation, the Queen’s Baton relay, access control, and sport entries and qualifications.

Since then, 5 members of Wiz-Team staff have already spent over 60 days (and counting) on-site delivering countless hours of tailored training sessions and support to onboard and empower functional area teams to use our all-in-one event management solution Event-Works. Our solution will assist them (among other things) with the registration and management of over 80’000 accredited individuals across a Games ecosystem spanning more than 25 venues. One hundred delegation leaders have also received an exclusive preview of our brand-new Sport Entries and Qualifications (SEQ) module which will give them greater autonomy and transparency into the management of their athletes’ data journey.

Two technical rehearsals later, we are now ramping up our final preparations before opening night on 28 July 2022, where we will then offer a full range of on-site support for the duration of the Games.

The countdown is then well and truly on! We are thrilled to be on this journey with Birmingham 2022, which has already inspired and uplifted us as we have the privilege to work alongside and witness first-hand the passion, dedication and resilience of the staff who are working to prepare the best and brightest stage for the Commonwealth athletes and the world in a post-covid context.
